Welcome to the OxNoG Database!
What's it for??
The OxNoG Group was founded in the Autumn of 2008 by
Tom Nichols [me!], a GP who trained in Oxford and experienced
the isolation from other GPs, and the uncertainty of where the
next job was coming from. The Group lays out its aims and objectives
in the
and the database is designed to facilitate
communication between Oxfordshires Non-Principals, and
practices within commuting distance - it has a particular
emphasis on communicating sessional (locum) work.
How do I get in?
Personal data are stored within, and are protected by a master password for the Database, and personal passwords for users of the Database to alter details and post adverts. This diagram shows the tiers of Security
How is the Database structured?
The data are stored within four tables that are linked
as shown to the right. In essence, Contacts are usually (but
not always) linked to practices, and are linked to jobs they have
created. Practices usually have contacts
and may have jobs
advertised. Not all of the Group's doctors are Locums, but many
are, and will use the Database to communicate with Contacts
who advertise sessional work.
How do I get involved?
Doctors
New doctors should submit their details using the form on the
front page of the
Main OxNoG website
Practices
All Practices from late 2008 should have a registry entry which was populated using the NHS Choices website. This box contains all the currently registered practices: . In the future, new practices can register by emailing the administrators on admin@oxnog.org.
Contacts (Practice Staff, or people who just want to be able to contact the Group)
New Contacts should request the Database Password to enter the database, and the Practice password to interact with it, using the form from the main OxNoG.org front page.
Advertise Jobs
Normally, jobs will be posted by registered contacts who access the Jobs table using their practice password. If you urgently need a locum, email admin@oxnog.org who can distribute the details by email.
What are the Terms and Conditions?
For doctors wishing to join OxNoG, refer to
. There are also Terms and Conditions for contacts posting advertisements.
How do I leave the database?
All
boxes contain this link:
. Doctors and Contacts wishing to leave the service do not need to provide a reason, requests for deletion of a Practice will.
How do I donate some money to the Group?
...please don't tease me. I'll post details here should the event arise!
